In addition to working in-person, I have also tutored many students remotely which enables a greater level of flexibility for families all over the world!

I have worked 1:1 with a variety of students ranging from Grade 3 - Grade 12 in many areas such as :

  • writing

  • history (including designing individualized curriculum and supporting students taking advanced courses such as AP Government)

  • reading comprehension

  • math (elementary grades)

  • school projects and assignments

  • homework help

In August 2024 I completed the Comprehensive Orton-Gillingham 30 Hour Course through the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education and am excited to expand into this new area of instruction!

Mr. DiMinno is a teacher that gets kids to learn by getting them EXCITED to learn. He has an innate ability to understand what each child needs to motivate them.  I know this first hand as I have 3 very different kids who have all worked with him: two had him as an in classroom teacher and and two of them have worked with him with in-person and virtual tutoring.  He has a special gift.

My daughter had an accident and subsequently experienced a traumatic brain injury.  It took a long time for her to recover.  That included her being behind in her schooling.  In addition to her injury, she also is challenged with ADHD and a form of dyslexia.  While I knew Michael was a history teacher, I did not know that he was also a tutor for reading and writing.   This was an area that took some time for her to progress in after her injury.  We decided it was worth a chance for her to work with Michael to get her back on track with learning.   While it took a bit of time for her to return to where she was in her learning before her injury, she not only reached that point, but she surpassed it with Michael’s help.  He has been patient with her and has encouraged her in an understanding way to allow her to be her best.  She now not only loves reading, but her love for writing has her wanting to do so more and more.  She writes not only answers to questions Michael gives her, but she is writing descriptive fantasy stories as well.  She looks forward to the next opportunity she has to write both with him and in her spare time.  I am very grateful to Michael for helping her through this difficult time.  Most people would probably have no idea that she ever had any issue with reading or writing.

Mr. D. has been tutoring our homeschooling son for almost five years. What started as a military history class quickly turned into twice-weekly private tutoring. Our son’s writing skills and general attitude about schoolwork have grown immensely since he started working with Mr. D. This middle school student went from struggling to write a paragraph to a junior in high school who has written several books and is working on one to be published. We highly recommend Mr. D. whether your student needs a little extra help or much more in-depth lessons.

Teachers can have a huge impact on kids. Mr. DiMinno’s unique and engaging teaching style was the reason we moved our son to a new school for fourth grade, so that Mr. DiMinno could be his teacher.  He took a frustrated, smart, dyslexic kid and showed him that he could achieve at the highest levels by engaging him in creative and innovative ways.  Mr. DiMinno encouraged my son to read and write about history - the best story for a young boy. He continued to tutor him through middle school… helping my son move past his challenges. Mr. DiMinno showed our son that there was nothing he could not do… and 8 years later he was admitted to an Ivy League school.  That school asks its applicants to write a thank you letter to somebody who had a huge influence on them. His thank you letter was to Mr. DiMinno.

Our family has been working with Michael for over 8 years now and could not recommend him more highly if you are looking for academic help.  He was a teacher at our local private school and he was our boys' favorite over the years.  That's why it was so easy to ask him to help with tutoring when they got older and needed additional support.  Michael is fantastic at making topics and concepts more relatable and is very knowledgeable in many subjects.  He helps with everyday homework, test prep, projects, and whatever is a priority.  Most importantly, our kids are thriving and appreciate his help along the way, almost as much as we do!  It also helps that he is just a really great guy.
